The Art Renewal Center
Ann has the honor of being included among the initial 36 artists chosen by The Art Renewal Center for their Living Masters Gallery, a gallery in their on line museum that is dedicated to "the great living artists who have kept to the realist tradition."

So much art of the past and present has been overlooked in the name of modern art. In addition to the masters of the past, this ever growing on line museum (almost 20,000 images) has an extraordinary collection of the 19th century classical and realist artists, as well as traditional artists up to the present day. You can get lost in the pure enjoyment of esthetic beauty. As in all art sites, be sure to click on the pieces that intrigue you, as the quality of most of the images is excellent.

In reference to scholarship though, be aware that some images they list in private collections are actually in public museums and though they write that the works are presented in the order of quality, the sheer size of this task at this early point has made it difficult and most often the work is listed according to completion date or the date the piece was added to the site. Both of these small glitches are due to the site's enthusiasm for presenting new images. In addition, the rhetoric and the pop ups can be a bit much, but take the time to wander through the artists work in the museum and you will be well rewarded. Overlooking a few second raters in such a large realist site and in combination with the Web Gallery of Art below, you will leave saying these sites saying that you never knew the world contained so much wonderful art.

NEW: Please join us in signing the Art Renewal Center petition, Debunking David Hockney Theory directed to the television news-magazines (60 Minutes on CBS, Omni Bus Special, on BBC Two, Primetime on ABC all of which had a special on David Hockney's book) asking them to re-evaluate Hockney's theory and consider airing responsible opposing views and offer living proof against his ridiculous claim that perfect realism cannot be achieved by hand and eye alone.

The Art Newspaper is a treasure for its information about the modern art world, especially as relates to auctions and museums. Best of all, their commentary and articles are not related to the sales of advertising space, unlike most of the impressive glossy art magazines.

The Web Gallery of Art
The beauty, scholarship and joyous discovery attached to this site of over 11,000 images of European painting and sculptures created between 1150 and 1800 speaks for itself.
